Design Guidelines

Follow these guidelines to make sure your artwork prints exactly the way you expect.

Bleed & Safe Area

Extend your background artwork 0.125" (3mm) past the trim line on every side โ€” this is the "bleed" that prevents a thin white edge after cutting. Keep important text and logos at least 0.125" inside the trim line as well, so nothing gets cut off by normal trimming tolerance.

Resolution

Use images at 300 DPI (dots per inch) at final print size. A photo that looks sharp on screen at 72 DPI will often look blurry or pixelated once printed โ€” always check resolution at the actual dimensions of your product, not a scaled-down preview.

Color Mode

Design in CMYK, not RGB, whenever possible. Screens display color in RGB (red/green/blue light), but printers use CMYK (cyan/magenta/yellow/black) ink โ€” colors that look vivid on screen, especially bright blues and greens, can shift noticeably when converted to CMYK for print.

File Formats

PDF is preferred for print-ready artwork (embed fonts, flatten layers). PNG and JPG are accepted for photos and simple designs uploaded through the Design Studio โ€” just make sure they meet the resolution guideline above.

Still not sure your file is ready? Our Design Studio checks resolution automatically when you upload artwork.
